I live in Southampton and Work for the University of Southampton as a Sernior Infrastructure Engineer. I’m married with two children (Although they are 22 and 16 so not really children anymore) and a dog (Eli).
I’ve been interested in electronics from as long ago as I can remember, and got into computing in the 8bit heyday with my first computer being a zx81 (in around 1983). I’m been messing around with both since then and my computing side of the hobby turned into a career for me.
My interest in electronics eventually led to me starting to repair things (sometimes not so successfully) and led me into CB radio and from there I met Malcolm (G0WFQ) who persuaded me to sit my exam and the rest is history.
I’ve always been more interested in how things work instead of using them so consequently I’ve only ever spoken on the amateur bands a handful of times, prefering to experiment instead. Haven’t really done much amateur radio wise the past 20 years until the recent changes and thought I should renew my licence whilst it was still relatively easy to do.
These pages will probably end up being a mixture of Amateur radio / electronics and possibly some day job (Computing) posts thrown in.
